The long stretches of pristine beaches, rolling mountains, deep gorges and magnificent array of plant- and animal life continue to inspire Michael and to provide the ideal canvas on which to portray his subjects. This has been especially relevant to his fine art range, which captures Africa’s fauna in its spectacular detail, while maintaining the integrity of its natural splendour. As one of the official Host Cities™ for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, Port Elizabeth offered plenty of magnificent photographic opportunities. Michael Sheehan was selected as an official contracted photographer to have his work displayed on the Nelson Mandela Bay Host City™ website; an exclusive privilege. This Port Elizabeth-based photographer captured every World Cup™ game in Port Elizabeth and a book of this prestigious event, to be published by the Local Organising Committee of Nelson Mandela Bay, includes a large number of Michael’s photographs as testimony to his superior work and portfolio. Michael’s photographs have been used in billboard advertisements internationally. In addition, some of the images of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ were being used in Germany for promotional purposes. Michael is one of the choice photographers for an international sporting, entertainment and event photography agencies and has also done brand event photography for national advertising agencies. Some of Michael’s work has been published in South African magazines like Home, Sports Illustrated, Triathlete, Personal Finance, Top Billing and Ubuntu. However, with years of experience and having made my passion into something I call a job, I now have extensive skills in all fields of photography.
